Staying safe on nixers

nixers is an introduction and nothing more. We do not vet the people who post jobs or the people who answer them, we do not check anyone's insurance, and we never hold the money. Treat everyone you meet here the way you would treat a stranger at your door: friendly, and careful.
What nixers does
Posts go up straight away, and moderators can take them down afterwards. On a job posted on nixers there is a Report this job control. A report puts that post in front of a moderator, and one that should not be up comes down when we see it.
What nixers does not do
Nobody here is background-checked, reference-checked or insured by us. A Sourced label means nixers listed a vacancy the company did not post here. It is not a check of that employer, the pay, or the person who posted a job of their own.
nixers never handles money
There is no way to pay through this site, and there never has been. Anybody who tells you to pay nixers, or to send a deposit to hold a job, is at something. Walk away and report the post.
Before you take a job
Meet at the actual place of work or somewhere public, and tell somebody where you are going and when you will be back. Agree the pay, the hours and who supplies the tools before you start, in writing where you can. Nobody needs your PPS number, your passport or a payment from you to give you a few hours' work. A job marked Sourced opens the company's own site when you apply. Check that address before you send a CV or personal details.
Before you hire somebody
Ask for references, and for proof of insurance on anything that could go wrong in your house. If the work needs a trade registration, check the number yourself on the register's own site. Agree the price and the scope before the work starts, and pay when you are happy it is done.
Your voice memo is public
A memo on a job post is published so people can hear what the job is, so do not say your home address, your PPS number or anything you would not put on a poster into it. You can take it down whenever you like with the link we send you when you post, and that erases the recording and your reply address with it.
If something goes wrong
If you have been threatened, hurt or defrauded, that is a matter for An Garda Síochána, and they should hear it first. On a job posted on nixers, use Report this job as well. For anything else, write to hello@nixers.com.
