Social Care Leader, Under 18's Residential Service, The Haven, Clonmel Location: Tipperary Contract: Full Time, Specific Purpose This role plays a key part in creating a safe, stable, and nurturing environment for young people aged 15-18 who are living in short‑term residential care. You’ll be part of a committed team within Under 18's Residential Services, offering day‑to‑day support, guidance, and encouragement to help each young person feel heard, valued, and supported as they navigate a challenging period in their lives. What you will do: • Work within the framework of the overall objective of Focus Ireland and the values of the agency. • Provide a safe, home like environment for young people who reside in the unit, in line with the National Standards governing the provision of care in Children’s Residential Centres. • To take the lead on shift with Social Care Workers, and to ensure that the staff team carry out allocated tasks in a competent and professional manner and, barring any mitigating circumstances, ensure these are not passed on to the next person on duty. • To advise the Deputy Social Care Manager or Social Care Manager of any areas of concern in relation to Social Care Workers or of young people. • Assist in the administration and day to day operation of the service. • Co-operate with external monitoring and statutory inspections and implement their recommendations. • To record and maintain records in relation to the project and individual clients in accordance with statutory requirements and health and safety legislation. • To attend and participate in team, review and agency meetings as required. • To assist in the implementation of the settlement policies and strategies of Focus Ireland. • To prepare and engage in supervision sessions on a regular basis with the Manager/ Deputy • To undertake such other duties as might be reasonably assigned to you from time to time in consultation with the Manager. • To observe all Health, Safety and Welfare at Work regulations and notify management of any risks or concerns you may have in relation to same. • To agree to take part in a 7-day, 24 hour roster. What you will need: • Hold a CORU approved Social Care Worker qualification and have applied for CORU registration (evidence of application will be necessary) (https://coru.ie/health-and-social-care-professionals/education/approved-qualifications/social-care-workers/) • A minimum of 2 years full-time work experience in a children’s residential setting. • A working knowledge of the impact of childhood adversity on adolescents • A working knowledge and awareness of HIQA National Standards for Children’s Residential Centres. • Ability to manage and support teenagers in crisis who present with challenging behaviours. • A high standard of written communication • A working knowledge and understanding of Child Protection, and responses to concerns.
