About this role
Duties: Department managers in large supermarkets and department stores are usually responsible for one area of the store, such as grocery, fresh food or clothing. Typical responsibilities include leading, rostering and training the department team, managing stock, ordering, availability and waste, keeping presentation, cleanliness and safety standards, handling customer issues, and working towards sales and cost targets. Requirements: Helpful experience includes supervising a busy retail team, good organisation and comfort with figures. In food departments, managers are typically expected to know the store's food safety system, which Irish law requires to be based on HACCP principles.
