Depending on the role, that can mean running and quality-checking laboratory tests, taking blood samples, carrying out cardiac, neurological or imaging investigations, decontaminating instruments, or dispensing medicines and advising clinical teams on their safe use. Hospital laboratory and diagnostic services often run on-call or extended-day rosters. A relevant qualification is required. Medical scientists and radiographers must be registered with CORU to use those titles. Some other roles in this group, such as physiologists and phlebotomists, are not among the professions CORU regulates.
