About nixers
By The nixers team · Last updated:
nixers is a job board for Dublin, built on the oldest way of finding work in this city: someone who knows someone.
Where the idea comes from
Before the apps, work here moved by word of mouth. A word in the local, a name passed on at the school gate, a fella who knows a man with a van. It still works. It is just slow, and it only ever reaches as far as the people you already know.
What nixers does
Someone posts a shift or a one-off job, in their own voice if that is easier than typing. People nearby see it and get in touch. You agree the work between you. That is the whole of it.
What it costs
Posting is free and answering is free. nixers charges no lead fees and takes no commission, and it never handles the money: you pay the person who did the work, directly. A pro can pay to have their listing stand out in the directory, and that is the only thing here that costs anybody anything.
What nixers is not
nixers does not vet the people on it, does not check anyone's insurance and does not stand behind the work. It is an introduction, not a promise about either side. Read the safety page before you meet somebody new.
Where it is
Dublin, for now, because word of mouth is a local thing and this is where we are. The board is quiet while it fills. We would rather tell you that than dress it up.
