  • Ensure facility equipment, plant and machinery is prepared and maintained to acceptable operating standards of GMP and understand the operation of and be able to carry out relevant routine tasks to all items of facility equipment and plant.
  • Play a key role in relation to the operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of facilities equipment, through breakdown repairs, record of equipment settings, and adjustments, preventive maintenance, continuous improvement projects, maintenance of spares and consumable stocks, etc.
  • Be familiar with all relevant S.O.P.'s (Standard Operating Procedures) and Work Procedures for the operation and safe running of equipment, facilities and GMP compliance.
  • Work co-operatively within the Engineering technician team, giving advice, assistance etc. as required. In addition, the Engineering technician is part of an overall support team and is expected to work with the team in order to achieve company target and goals.
  • Communicate relevant information to management and staff in Engineering and other departments. This may include notifying current or potential problems, status of problems (e.g. expected repair time for a breakdown) etc. Communication may be verbal, written in a logbook or e-mail, Team Meetings, etc.
  • Support of continuous improvement program onsite through improvements of system or equipment or methods of work, by identifying and implementing improvement projects that will improve the operating effectiveness of equipment.
  • Co-ordination of, and liaison with, external specialist contractors, engaged in relevant work on site.
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene and GMP during maintenance and any other work, and the workshops, plant rooms and facilities storage areas in an organised and tidy condition at all times and ensure the correct storage of tools and parts
  • Adhere to all company and legislative health, safety and environmental requirements, and perform any other duties as assigned by the Department Manager/Engineering Director.

Here are the minimum qualifications and essential functions for this position:
  • Ideal candidates will have a Senior Trade Qualification or National Diploma/Degree relating to Electrical maintenance or Industrial Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 3 years post-qualification experience in a GMP environment
  • Experience of hands-on maintenance and troubleshooting of manufacturing facilities/utilities is desirable for example Safety Systems, BMS, HVAC, Compressors, Chillers etc.
  • Previous experience with purified water generation and distribution systems would be highly advantageous
