Overview of the role:

The role will have responsibility for ensuring that all work is efficiently and effectively managed and executed within defined constraints, such as time and budget, and with due diligence.

The role will require strong technical skills and communication and interaction with managers, engineers, internal and external team members, suppliers and clients. In executing the role it is paramount that Health & Safety, Ethical and Quality requirements, both legislative and company specific, are respected and taken account of.

Day to day of the role:

As a professional engineer you are expected to apply your training, qualifications, knowledge and experience to your role and share your skills in order to produce detailed design solutions for Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants.

  • Receive the Clients brief/remit, assist in formulating the scope of the works and develop the design philosophy
  • Provide best value working design solutions to technical problems (Note: Process design support will be provided by Process Department)
  • Work effectively within a multi-disciplinary design environment such that designs consider the impact across all relevant disciplines (process, civil, mech, elec, etc)
  • Ensuring that all Project Documentation is managed according to the requirements of the Project Quality Plan and project specific requirements
  • Responsibility for ensuring that your work within your department is carried out accurately and with due diligence
  • Effective time management and execution of output within defined timeline and budgetary constraints
  • Ensuring effective, professional and appropriate communication at all times whilst protecting the interest of the company
  • Problem solving and application of good engineering principles
  • Understanding and ensuring compliance with Clients Specifications, User Requirement Specifications, Health and Safety Requirements, Company Quality requirements, Company Policy, legislation, design standards and good engineering practice
  • Supporting and assisting Managers, and colleagues
  • Adhere to the Company’s ethical conduct guidelines and maintain a working environment which is supportive and respectful of other employees
  • Undertake duties of a general nature that may be required by your manager

Required skills for this role:
  • Accredited NFQ Level 8 Honours Bachelor Degree in a relevant discipline
  • 5+ years previous experience in a similar position ideally in Water & Wastewater Treatment Industry
  • Knowledge of water and wastewater treatment industry
  • Highly organised and efficient
  • Strong Problem solving skills
  • Numerate and highly computer literate
  • Effective Time Management and Communication skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-sustaining engineer with ability to effectively work as part of a team and on own initiative
  • Competent user of Microsoft Office
  • Extensive knowledge of current markets conditions
  • Ability to work under pressure, whilst ensuring deadlines are met
  • A proven commitment to continued professional development
